Transmission-Free Servo Motor Design for Cleaner Finishes
One of the RL-8500’s biggest advantages is what Ranger removed: gear-driven mechanical drives and variable-speed transmission devices. Instead, the brake lathe uses independent DC servo motors to control the cross feed and spindle feed drives, reducing chatter, vibration, service complexity, and the mechanical frequencies that can affect machined surface finish.
Infinitely adjustable feed rates allow technicians to speed through rough cuts or slow down for a finer finish with the turn of a dial. Combined with serpentine belts, massive tapered spindle bearings, and a splash-lube oil-feed system, the RL-8500 is built to deliver smooth operation and accurate resurfacing year after year.
Quick Drum-to-Rotor Changeover with Complete Standard Tooling
The RL-8500 is built to keep brake work moving. A quick-change tool-head design allows operators to switch between drums and rotors quickly, while simple upfront controls reduce operator movement during setup and cutting. The deluxe standard adapter package includes the Quick-Change hubless adapter system, micro-dial twin tool cutter, boring bar, floating adapters, centering cones, spacers, double-taper adapters, hubless adapters, carbide cutting tools, cutting inserts, 1-inch arbor, arbor nut, anti-vibration bands, and storage case. That gives shops the tooling needed for a wide range of standard and composite rotor and drum applications.
