RX3040 Tire Changer Installation At West Coast Customs

April 21st, 2010

Last week, the BendPak Team got the chance to go down and install a brand new Ranger RX3040 Tire Changer at West Coast Customs in Corona, California. Their old Beissbarth tire machine wasn’t working so well and replacement parts were impossible to find. Being longtime partners in automotive excellence, we did the only honorable thing and equipped the Street Customs veterans with the very best tire changer in the business.

Since we were already in the shop (using most of our energy to keep our overactive salivary glands in check) we asked Ryan Friedlinghaus and company if we could take a couple pictures. They kindly obliged, so of course we went completely ballistic, took several hundred and filled up the entire SD card in the process.

After wading through each and every shot, we’re proud to announce that FINALLY the pictures are up on the official BendPak / Ranger Flickr page for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to check them out! Expect to see an insane amount of BendPak / Ranger equipment all around the shop. We’ve also included a few shots of the Ranger RX3040 Tire Machine itself, in case you haven’t seen one in person yet.

Stay tuned to the BendPak Blog for more updates. We managed to snag some video during the install and we’ll be posting it within the next couple of weeks.

Adam Carolla CarCast Shows You How To Change A Tire

April 7th, 2010

We are very proud to bring you an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at this week’s Adam Carolla CarCast. Not too long ago, we took a quick ride down the 101 to the fair city of Glendale, CA, where we were granted access into the hallowed halls of Adam Carolla’s garage. We stumbled around in a daze, struck by the overwhelming amount of automobile awesomeness—unable to walk six feet without nearly tripping over a couple of Mustangs, a Ford GT40 or a Cobra. The walls and ceilings were lavishly adorned with memorabilia, equal parts comedy and automotive; and as we made our winding way through the shop, we repeatedly came across what surely amounted to a bona fide truck-load of BendPak / Ranger automotive service equipment. This truly was car-guy heaven.

What followed was one of the best working Saturdays in recent memory. Our gracious hosts—Sandy Ganz and his crew—were kind, entertaining, helpful and even fed us delicious sandwiches from a local establishment. It was all we could do to sit back and grin while we watched Sandy and co. do their thing. The segment centered on a step-by-step tutorial of how to properly change and balance a tire with the aid of a BendPak low-rise car lift, Ranger tire changer and Ranger wheel balancer…as well as the completely wrong and dangerous method involving starter fluid and a box of matches.

The tire-changing tutorial segment starts in at about 21:39, preceded by an interesting chat with hot rod builder Bodie Stroud. At the time of this post there’s no video (yet), but we took our own camera and have loads of exclusive snapshots to show you on the official BendPak / Ranger Flickr page. We recommend you go there now!

Thank you Sandy and the entire CarCast crew. We had a (fiery) blast.

Ranger Knows It’s Not So Much What You Do, But How You Do It

March 22nd, 2010

We take wheel aligner repairs seriously, which is why we send replacements in this box

It’s very rare that we get a call for service on a Ranger wireless wheel aligner, let alone a request for full-on recalibration. But when those calls do come, we want to make sure that the parts ship back and forth without a scratch. That’s why last week we began a new sensor head recalibration initiative.

Here’s how it works: if you experience difficulties with your CRT380R Ranger wireless wheel aligner and it requires anywhere from minor to major sensor head adjustments, we send you one of these snazzy padded shipping boxes. You put your malfunctioning sensor heads into the box and ship it to BendPak / Ranger. As soon as we receive the shipment, we’ll recalibrate the wheel aligner sensor heads for you and then we overnight them back in pristine condition.  Our custom-fit, heavy-duty shipping boxes are designed to take tons of transit abuse without harming their precious cargo. And in extreme cases, we’ll even ship you loaner sensor heads to eliminate costly downtime while you wait. It’s that important to us.

At BendPak, the quality of our automotive service products is only surpassed by our excellent customer service. We’re confident that you won’t find any other car lift and garage equipment manufacturer this committed to your positive customer experience. With BendPak / Ranger, even when things don’t go entirely as planned, we’re here to support you with everything we’ve got.

Here’s some more pictures to give you an idea of what to expect when you open one of these up.

Got Turf Equipment Lift Questions? We’ve Got Turf Equipment Lift Answers!

January 25th, 2010

The definitive turf lift buyer's guide.

It’s surprising to learn how many golf course maintenance facilities still haven’t experienced the speed and efficiency of a turf equipment lift. Turf lifts are specially engineered to aid in the repair, service and maintenance of grounds maintenance utility vehicles like mowers, sand groomers and fertilizer sprayers, as well as carts. Though the concept is hardly a new one, it’s only with the recent advancements in course maintenance technology that a turf equipment lift has become an absolute necessity for any golf course or resort maintenance team that wishes to have their grounds remain in a constant state of manicured perfection. Turf equipment lifts are extremely useful for everything from performing bed knife adjustments to whole machine rebuilding projects. With better visibility, safety and speed, turf equipment lifts have become the essential cornerstone of a well-run shop. Improvements in productivity, performance and down-time allow reasonably priced turf lifts to pay for themselves in less than a year, while simultaneously reducing stress, strain and precious wasted time. The more the turf equipment lift is used, the more benefit the operator gains from it and the quicker it pays for itself. Turf equipment lifts give you peace of mind in knowing that your mowing equipment receives the best care available and that your grass has never looked so good.

Below are a few frequently asked questions about turf lifts.

Q: I’ve been doing fine so far without a turf equipment lift, why should I get one now?
A: Remember that before 1970, golf course and ground maintenance was mostly accomplished with the aid of many, many hands performing manual labor. With the evolution of golf course equipment in the ‘70s and ‘80s, the tools became much more sophisticated. Today, a full 18-hole golf course can be run by around a dozen people—and golf courses are looking better than ever. The same can be said for turf equipment lifts. You can either have all the inefficiency of a large manual workforce or you can upgrade to a quick, lean operation with a new turf equipment lift. Many shops have discovered that with the proper turf lifting equipment, they only require one full-time mechanic to service all their mowers, sprayers and carts.

Q: How will a BendPak turf lift benefit my golf course?
A: Cut and height uniformity is directly affected by the quality of the repair. The quality of the repair is directly affected by the tools and equipment you use. When it is quick and easy to properly perform maintenance on your turf machinery with a turf equipment lift, it makes more sense to immediately fix the problem instead of adding it to your “to do” list. Equipment runs better longer when worn components and loose bolts are discovered early and repaired quickly. Only the convenience of a turf equipment lift allows you to identify the problem and work on it without obstruction or hindrance.

Q: What’s wrong with the “If it ain’t broken it, don’t fix it” policy?
A: Quite simply, when you wait for the equipment to break, you’ve now got broken equipment to contend with. However, we’re finding more and more the cost of maintenance and repair is far less than the price of fixing a broken piece of turf maintenance machinery. Owning an efficient turf equipment lift gives you the power to predict possible future problems and catch them before they begin to affect your day to day operations. A high performance specialty turf lift only takes a few moments to load and raise for easy service and examination. Your equipment receives more accurate adjustments to improve performance and critical inspections take less time, so you are never down for long.

Q: What makes BendPak turf equipment lifts better than any other option on the market?
A: BendPak turf lifts are built on the same award-winning platform as the XPR‐10CX car lift. So not only do you get a premier turf equipment lift, but you also get the flexibility of an automobile two-post lift as well. That means that you get the most versatile lawn maintenance and utility vehicle lift ever built, backed by BendPak’s 45 years of lifting know-how and fantastic support program. Our super-industrial strength turf equipment lifts have it all: leading edge technology, top of the line materials, design that’s ahead of its time and a 7,000-lb. lifting capacity. If your shop has a ceiling higher than 12’, you’ll get everything you need out of this lift.

Q: Doesn’t the overhead beam interfere with normal turf equipment lifting functions?
A: It’s extremely unlikely that you employ any turf maintenance equipment that would be in danger of coming into contact with the overhead beam. However, in the event that you do, BendPak also offers a floorplate turf equipment lift. No matter what you’re working on, BendPak always has the right tool for the job.

Q: What about claims that car lifts and maintenance equipment do not mix?
A: This is largely a myth spread by turf lift companies that, more or less, only manufacture and sell turf equipment lifts. Generally, they assume that a turf equipment lift manufactured by a company that also designs and manufactures automotive lifts will be using the same swing-arm assemblies on every lift. They also argue that improper use of these arm assemblies violate OSHA by presenting an unguarded pinch point for feet. While that might be true of other turf equipment lift manufacturers, BendPak turf lifts use a specialized lifting deck that cradles the wheels—not nonexistent lifting points. The lifting deck is designed to lift ONLY mowers, carts, sprayers and similar equipment, but the lift itself can easily be adapted to lift automotive vehicles as well. The best part is that you don’t need any strange specialized tools to accomplish the task. We don’t understand how anyone would paint this incredible versatility as a potential flaw.

The bottom line is that BendPak turf equipment lifts are powerful and secure, and they greatly increase the speed of maintenance repair work on all popular sizes of turf maintenance equipment. Their wheel pans and fork assemblies fit an incredible array of wheel arrangements for open access to the gear box, blades, reels and other components for increased shop efficiency. With a 7,000-lb. maximum capacity, easy-to-use dual-synchro equalization system and user-friendly controls, BendPak turf lifts are the most versatile lawn maintenance and utility vehicle lifts in existence. Consider this—when the U.S. Department of Defense with its infinite resources needed a turf lift to keep their manicuring equipment in top form, they bought a BendPak turf equipment lift. If that doesn’t convince you, we don’t know what will. Make sure the grass is always greener on YOUR side of the fence.

Big Upgrades Coming to Ranger Tire Changers

December 29th, 2009

All new from Ranger Products, the R980X Tire Changer

Earlier this year, Ranger Products released two different flavors of tire-changing excellence: the RX980-A pure-air operated tire changer and the RX980-E, an electrical version. While each of these units proved themselves to be versatile tire-changing powerhouses in their own right, it occurred to us that the tire machines were really two sides of the same coin.

Now we’ve done the only logical thing—taken the strengths of each and combined them into one incredible value. And then, simply because we have trouble leaving well enough alone, we went ahead and raised the bar on the features that matter most to you.

Remember the old 1.5 HP motor? No more. This tire changer boasts a full two horses. The turntable too is a greater force to be reckoned with. We doubled the amount of cylinders and revamped the clamping action. But the best part is that none of this comes at extra cost to you.

So what do we call this union of two legendary tire machines? Introducing the R980X Rim-Guard™ Tire Changer. Give your congratulations to the lucky parents.
