Big Upgrades Coming to Ranger Tire Changers

December 29th, 2009

All new from Ranger Products, the R980X Tire Changer

Earlier this year, Ranger Products released two different flavors of tire-changing excellence: the RX980-A pure-air operated tire changer and the RX980-E, an electrical version. While each of these units proved themselves to be versatile tire-changing powerhouses in their own right, it occurred to us that the tire machines were really two sides of the same coin.

Now we’ve done the only logical thing—taken the strengths of each and combined them into one incredible value. And then, simply because we have trouble leaving well enough alone, we went ahead and raised the bar on the features that matter most to you.

Remember the old 1.5 HP motor? No more. This tire changer boasts a full two horses. The turntable too is a greater force to be reckoned with. We doubled the amount of cylinders and revamped the clamping action. But the best part is that none of this comes at extra cost to you.

So what do we call this union of two legendary tire machines? Introducing the R980X Rim-Guard™ Tire Changer. Give your congratulations to the lucky parents.

Motor City Motors Premieres on Discovery Channel Tonight!

December 28th, 2009

In tonight's episode, they boys build "The Gasser," pictured on the lift behind them.

In the premiere of Motor City Motors, the boys build "The Gasser" shown on the car lift behind them.

Motor City Motors premieres tonight (December 28, 2009) on Discovery Channel at 7 PM and again at 10 PM! If you don’t have cable or satellite, it’s time to suck up to that neighbor who does because you don’t want to miss this!

From the Discovery Channel site:

Motor City Motors follows renowned fabricators and custom-bike builders Dave and James Kaye, founders of Detroit Bros. Custom Cycles.

Watch each week as the brothers — with their father, John — tap into the Detroit-based talent and assemble a team of builders and specialists. Together they push the boundaries of automotive engineering to create one-of-a-kind vehicles — with a five-day limit for each build.

From turning a 1929 Model T into one of the coolest gassers in the city to transforming a 1992 GMC Suburban into a pothole filler, the builds are limited only by the ingenuity and imagination of the Detroit Brothers and their crews. The Kayes hope the series gives the local community, as well as their own struggling business, a much-needed boost.

Here’s some video links to keep you busy until the premiere.

Detroit Bros. Featured in New Discovery Channel Series

December 9th, 2009

Motor City Motors is bringing the metal back to Detroit.

Prepare to have something BIG to look forward to later this month. Dave and James Kaye of Detroit Bros. Custom Cycles are being featured in a new Discovery Channel series called Motor City Motors, to premiere December 28th.  The original series focuses on some of the most memorable, challenging and innovative builds ever witnessed on the small screen.

Dave and James Kaye started Detroit Bros. Custom Cycles in 2002 and built a name for themselves with cutting-edge, quality metalworking. However, due to the economic downturn, sales haven’t been quite what they were half a decade ago—a situation that a lot of the US can sympathize with. So they’re going to try their luck in front of the camera and bring some much needed attention back to their hometown of Detroit.

The boys from Motor City MotorsFrom the producer of such Discovery Channel hits as Deadliest Catch and Pitchmen, the first season of Motor City Motors is comprised of 13 hour-long episodes. This is as real as it gets.  The majority of the series takes place inside a leaky, rusty warehouse in south Detroit—NOT a sound stage in Hollywood, California.

All of us at BendPak / Ranger can’t wait to tune in. It’s exactly what the doctor ordered to drive away the post-holiday blues.

Jay Leno’s Garage Opens Doors, Jalopnik Gets Tour

December 8th, 2009

Take a peek inside Jay Leno's Big Dog garage!

By now, we’re sure it’s pretty obvious that we have a deep, abiding affection for Jay Leno. Aside from being a great entertainer, the man has a vast collection of drool-worthy vehicles that he not only drives and admires, but he also puts his own hands to work on. Truly, Jay Leno is one of the last remaining real car guys left in tinsel town. And it also doesn’t hurt that he owns a veritable armada of BendPak car lifts.

So when we saw that auto-blog Jalopnik got to take the grand tour inside of Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage, we were pretty jealous. But since they were kind enough to make their treasure trove of pictures from within those hallowed halls available to everyone via the internet, we can’t help but smile.
